Stuckup curates the top 10% of artists and provide them with customers and a premium printing, framing & fulfillment service, while offering customers with an easy way to discover great art and get your favorite pictures printed.

THE PROBLEM:

The process of discovering art you truly love can be a lengthy one. From Instagram, TikTok, Etsy, art galleries and fairs, interior design programs and retailers. Typically, just 10% of the art will generate 90% of the sales, because there is so much mediocre work out there that consumers must sift through to get to the good stuff.

When I moved from London to New York, I attempted to make my apartment feel like home with artwork, photographs, frames and decals, but became frustrated at the lack of curation, and the wide variety of pricing and quality.

1. MixPix™ by Stuckup

The first product I created were magnetic, floating wall tiles. I designed an ultra simple UI for MixPix - users clicked on each square to upload their photos, and could add/subtract and rearrange squares before ordering. Printed onto aluminum dibond sheets, with my proprietary floating magnetic mount system (see below left) so users can swap out tiles quickly and rotate them to get them straight on the wall.

2. Artist Profiles, Follow Artists & Notifications

My engineer and I designed and built artists storefronts and a "Follow" function enabling users to follow artists they like, receive notifications when those artists upload new work, and see recommendations for similar artwork. Similarly, Artists would be notified when people engage with their work and purchase. We developed a simple dashboard to display analytics and pay-out information.

3. Limited Edition Framed Prints

At the heart of the sales mechanic, I designed a mechanism whereby artists could list limited edition artwork. As the edition sells out, the prices goes up, so customers are highly motivated to purchase early. This sense of urgency ensured that users would check-in often, reinforcing the feedback loop and keeping customers active and engaged.

4. Artist Collections

Artist collections provided a visually stunning way to browse through groups of artists photos that the artist had organized into collections. This provided a much more effective way to view artworks, more akin to an art gallery, rather than disparate works of art sitting alongside each other. The system auto-generated the layout of each collection based on the number of images available, and the admin had the ability to feature a collection with a black background layout if desired.

5. Montage frames, made easy

With my lead engineer, we designed and built an intuitive 4 step flow for choosing a montage layout, uploading and cropping your images, selecting from our range of 30 curated frame mouldings, and then personalizing the frame with custom mat sizes and colors. The result has been a fantastic, unique and incredibly easy way to order beautiful montage framed prints with your favorite photos.

Artist Dashboards

Artwork Management Tool

I designed an intuitive, simple online dashboard for artists to log in, and upload their complete portfolio, organized into collections. A complete overview of listings, orders, pay outs and pay out status, was provided, as well as notifications including new followers and activity.

Step 1. For artists with loads of artwork, I designed an intuitive bulk upload tool. Sync all of your artwork inventory by a simple drag and drop, or connect to your cloud drive.

Step 2. The system syncs the image names into Artwork titles saving the user a ton of time. User can add further info such as materials or specify limited editions. Progress bar keeps the user in the loop with the status of each image.

Step 3. The finished result is a well organized set of collections with each collection filled with the artists portfolio. From the dashboard the artist can track as editions sell out, and replenish with new artwork.

Animated touches

The brand was brought to life with subtle animations and quirky touches. The art world is typically a pretentious one, so Stuckup makes sure to point fun at that with its double entendre and youthful branding.
